The top 5 teams in the league right now are as follows: San Jose Sharks, Washington Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, New Jersey Devils and the defending Stanley cup champions, the Pittsburg penguins. Each team has a minimum of 13 wins. The New Jersey devils are 9 and 1 in their last 10 and are starting to make a comeback. The unique part of these top 5 teams is that the number one team is a team from the west, when you would think that the northeast would dominate the league, seeing as how those are the big states for hockey. If you have anymore questions write me back i would be more than happy to answer any questions about the 2009-2010 NHL Hockey season. Go Bruins!
Big Upset
The defending NHL Stanley Cup champions, Pittsburg Penguins have lost three straight. They started off the first 15 games 12 and 3, and now dropping 2nd in their division with a 12 and 6 record. The Penguins were defeated tuesday night by the Boston Bruins who hosted them at the Boston garden, with a final of 3 to 0.
Scores of 11/4/09
Last nights games were pretty even match ups, with a couple of upsets. The Sabres, unsuprisingly, took another win with a score of 3 to 0 against the New York Islanders. The best game of the night was said to be against the Columbus Blue Jaackets and the San Jose sharks. Both teams are 1st and 2nd in their divisions. The game went into overtime and into a shootout and finally the Sharks pulled out with a win, but it was a hard fought battle until the very end. The COlorado Avalanche pulled off with another win against the Phoniex Coyotes with a 4 to 1 win. This makes them the best in their division with an 11 and 3 record for the overall season. The New Jersey devils pulled off a win against the Washington Capitals, this game was said to be the upset of the night. Vokoun led the panthers to another win with a shutout against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars went into overtime last night and was ended shortly by the Flames Captain Jerome Iginla, scoring his second goal of the night and leading his team to another consecutive win. And that was all the scores for the 4th of November, 2009.
League Leaders
The 2009 2010 NHL hockey season started off with a high percentage of points in such a small amount of games. The league point leader in an L.A. King, by the name of Anze Copitar. The 22 year old out of Slovenia is leading the league with 24 points in just 15 games! The 6’3 Slovenian is known for crashing the net and his vision on the ice is superb. Leading right behind him is Alexander Ovechkin, with 23 points. With only one point behind the league leader, Ovechkin however is leading the league with goals. He has 14 goals and 7 assists for the season. The Colorado avalanche would be nothing without their goaltender Craig Anderson, he is the only American who is in the leaders in the league. He is leading the league with a .936 save percentage. With the leader in save average, Anderson also is leading the league with 10 wins. John Thorton for the San Jose sharks is leading the league with 16 assists. Well so far that is the statistics for the 2009-2010 NHL hockey league leaders. Comment me and i will answer any questions. GO BRUINS!
A couple games in
With the beginning of the 2009-2010 hockey season that started October 1st, some teams are off to a rough start, but then again we have some teams who are undefeated. In the Atlantic division the New York Rangers lead the division and the league, with an outstanding 6 and 1 start to the season. But what the buzz is all about is what is up with Detroit? Starting off 2 and 3. Almost said to be one of the best teams in the NHL for the past couple DECADES, winning the Stanley cup 11 times, making them in third place for the most Stanley cup wins in NHL history. Alexander Ovechkin leads the league with 12 points, with only play 6 games. The young star from Russia came into the league only a couple years ago, and has dominated ever since. For the injury list no one big or effective players seem to be on it, but that’s it for this week, ill see you again soon!
